A disgusting, disturbing and heartbreaking story. Let’s hope the doctor does get charged.
Wow, positive news out of China?!
I just read a well-written article on a terrible subject. In the Mail Online, Peter Hitchens explores the gender inequality, especially seen in abortions in China. His report is sad and compelling. The world is about to change. How will a massive gender imbalance in China affect the rest of the world? It’s hurting China in a number of ways, but time will tell how far-reaching the problem will be.
From the article:
What lingers in the mind, in the midst of this surging economic and political titan with its dozens of vast, ultra-modern cities, its advanced plans to land men on the Moon, its utopian schemes to control population and its unstoppable power over the rest of the world, is the inconsolable misery of the bereft parents, the pinched squalor of the places where they must try to live a happy life, the jaunty wickedness of the cheap abortion clinics and the classrooms full of the ghosts of all those girls who were never born.
Whatever we have been used to and thought of as normal is coming to an end.
Reminds me of a verse from Revelatoin (Chapter 9 verse 16): And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. The number of the mounted troops was two hundred million. I heard their number.
Although, when you read this article, that doesn’t sound too likely.
China, long concerned about Carbon emissions (yeah right) is making the claim that they are helping to do their part with their strict family planning guidelines. Zhao Baige, vice-minister of National Population and Family Planning Commission of China (NPFPC) said, “Dealing with climate change is not simply an issue of CO2 emission reduction but a comprehensive challenge involving political, economic, social, cultural and ecological issues, and the population concern fits right into the picture.”
China admits they’re not solving 100% of the problems. They’re facing huge gender imbalances (female babies are often aborted or abandoned) and the society is aging fast. Well, that’s what happens when you knock off your little ones. China has ‘prevented’ 400 MILLION births, which is in turn preventing the emission of 18 million fewer tonnes of CO2 every year. Hooray!
For the first time since Gallup has been asking the question since 1995, more Americans than not say they are Pro-Life. Reminds me of a great quote, ‘instead of making aboriton illegal, let’s make it unthinkable’.
There are so many decisions that lead up to an unwanted pregnancy and (usually) an unwanted abortion. More education means better informed decisions.
An incredible ruling has come from Sweden’s health authorities: women cannot be refused abortions up until the 18th week of pregnancy, even if their decision to abort is based on the gender of the baby (I will refuse to use the word foetus here – dehumanizing an unborn infant through scientific jargon does not make it an easier operation).
The ruling was handed down after a mother in Southern Sweden with two girls already, asked to know the gender of her unborn baby. When she requested an abortion after getting the news of yet another girl, doctors asked their health authority to create guidelines for the request and carry-out of abortions. In other words, “should we be aborting babies because they aren’t the parent’s preferred gender?” The health board voted to not allow that to be a barrier.
My favourite comment left after the article was from Maxtel, and read:
Well I guess what the court was saying was that if you’re going to engage in barbarism, you really can’t put limits on it. Go Sweden!
It seems each new day brings new reasons to despair over the state of the world. If abortion wasn’t bad enough, now folks can do it when they don’t quite have their designer family (and let’s face it, I’m totally naive to think this hasn’t been happening for decades already, but sheet, even countries like India have made gender-based abortions illegal).
God help us.
Holland is sailing an abortion ship close to Spain to offer off-shore abortions for citizens of a country that is quite conservative when it comes to abortion.
Spain decriminalised abortion in 1985 but only for certain cases: up to 12 weeks of pregnancy after a rape; up to 22 weeks in the case of malformation of the foetus; and at any point if the pregnancy represents a threat to the physical or mental health of the woman.
This is a decent take on the issue. Now, the Dutch are providing an out. Parking in international waters, they can really do what they want. Apparently if you’re Dutch, a fetus ain’t much. Sad.
Portugal banned the same ship earlier.
