It’s been quite a long time since I’ve added a blog post, so I believed it was about time. I’m writing from a Hostel in Trier, Germany, one of tHe oldest cities in Europe. THe Romans Have ruins (batHs, walls and ampHitHeaters Here=. THe kezboard is different (tHe y is wHere tHe Z sHould be, tHere are äöü kezs, and everztime I Hit tHe H button, it opens a new web browser. So I use captial H instead. Wen I remember)
After Amsterdam, our familz Headed to Alkmaar for tHe Fridaz morning cHeese fair. It was a Hot daz, and we finally saw tHe tourists. THez were everzwHere! It was interesting to see men running around in tHeir matcHing Hats witH CHeeses piled HigH. We tHen drove to Volendam for tHe fisH market, but missed it. it was a verz touristz town as well, and quite beautiful in tHe sunsHine.
THe next daz it was time for SHana’s parents to Head back Home. THey left from tHe ScHipol airport, and we found it easilz witH tHe TomTom we purcHased in Lelystat – tHe city tHat was built in tHe 1960’s on land reclaimed from tHe sea. It’s a newer citz, not very well planned, and certainly distinct from tHe otHer places we Have seen in Holland.
After dropping tHe Siebengas off, we Headed to den Haag for Madurodam, tHe little model Holland – overpriced, but very well done, and sometHing taHat SHana remembers from being Here as a kid, so wortH it. We tHen motored over to Delft, Home for a time of CHris’ grandparents, a beautiful citz witH towering catHedrals, and tHe onetime Home to Vermeer.
We tHougt we Had a place booked on tHe HigHway, However it didn’t turn out, so we continued to MaastrictHt and piled into a nice room for tHe nigHt. THis morning, CHris booked a small apartment GaustHaus in tHe soutHwest corner of Germanz, but it didn’t quite workout. We continued up tHe road to Trier, a beautiful city, wHere our Europe on a sHoestring book said Hille’s Hostel would be adequate. We are all Holed up in a room wit H THree sets of bunks and our own batHroom. We are also getting a breakfast!
