Imagine a quaint cruise on the beautiful Yangtze river. Flowers crowd the waters edge, storks wade through the marsh reeds searching for little fish to snack on. A calm melody floats over the bow of the junk and you let your hand drag through the water and look down to see that it’s – totally red!
Apparently hundreds of thousands of people are in big trouble, because of an incredible amount of pollution. Gross. The BBC has done a four-part documentary on developing China. A frightenening fact shows how much pesticide, herbicide, fertilizer, etc is being used to squeeze enough food out of land to feed a massive (and growing) population.
Note to accuracy nerds: there are no sharks in Chinese rivers. (Although there are dolphins)
