The date today is March 26th. I’ve been meat-free for approximately 34 days. I did not give up meat for any other reason than I wanted to give up something. I also gave up alcohol (not nearly as big a deal since I don’t drink that much – maybe a couple of drinks a week). I went and played poker on Friday night (lost by the way) and the smell of the brews that the boys were drinking was repulsive. It smelled so strongly of yeast, alcohol and malted hops (whatever they are) that I nearly gagged. Is this really a result of not having drank for a few weeks?
I’m not having the same result with meat. Shana cooked sweet and sour meat balls tonight for her and the kid’s supper. I literally parked myself overtop of the electric frying pan and inhaled the steam (right nostril still a little sore). I had a fairly good meal of three-cheese filled tortellini with brocolli. I’ve got to admit, it’s not as hard as I thought it would be. I am getting bored of what I’m eating, but I’m an expert at egg salad sandwiches (I’ve made it three times). Easter’s in 2 and a half weeks. So far so good.
