We all have those moments. You’re just sorta watching TV out of the corner of your eye when an add comes on. It’s a preview for an upcoming movie. You can’t believe how good it looks and you can’t wait to go. You count down the months/weeks/days until it arrives, you get in line early and save a great seat. The lights go down, you are totally excited, a hush falls over the crowd and….the movie TOTALLY SUCKS!
It seems like this happens to me quite a bit. My wife tells me not to get excited about movies anymore, because I tend to just be disappointed. Here is a list of the 10 movies I looked forward most, that turned out to be just totally not worth waiting for.
10. Small Soldiers
Looking back on this now I can’t believe I even went, let alone looked forward to it. I loved G.I.Joe’s as a kid and this just seemed to fit in that vein. I did take my little brother though, so I didn’t look like a total dork.
9. Cutthroat Island
Matthew Modine, Geena Davis in a swashbuckling adventure. How could you go wrong? Well you could….way wrong. At least I saw this one in the cheap theatre, it only cost me $2.
It really did look like it could be good, honest!
7. Battlefield Earth
I’m a sucker for sci-fi. I usually really want to see things if they involve space, spaceships, fighting, aliens, etc. This movie had all of these elements, it was just really, really, really bad.
6. The Postman
I can honestly admit I liked the movie Waterworld. I’ve like most of Costner’s stuff (except of course for The Bodyguard) and even though Waterworld was a commercial disaster and a critical embarrasment, I enjoyed it. Based on that showing I saw The Postman. It was pretty terrible. A post-apocalypic future, with a friggin’ postman rebuilding society by starting the pony express… who thought this would be a good idea.
