James Kwantes, U2 and Gone Coastal

My friend James Kwantes was in Red Deer on holidays this week. Originally from B.C., James and his wife Shannon lived in Red Deer for a few years as he worked at a job for the local paper. 2 years ago he returned to BC to work for the Vancouver Sun as a copy editor.

I’ve always appreciated James. His sense of humour, sense of justice and ability to just shoot the breeze really seem to jive with mine. Our conversations are always engaging, and it was great to catch up with him. I was reminded of an article he wrote about U2, a band we just both happen to think is #1. Check it out, it’s worth the read.

James also writes a regular column in the Red Deer Advocate about life in Lotus Land.

  1. Dude, you don’t waste any time!

It was great to connect with you as well. Keep reading, keep thinking, keep in touch. I know you’re a closet Canucks fan and I’d tell you to publically switch your allegiance to the team — especially given their superior prospects for success in the coming years — but I know you’ll keep cheering for the Oilers.

Give us a jingle this summer, and my wife will show you what a real hamburger tastes like.

    Cheers,
    James

  2. I’ve just noticed that this link to James article no longer works, i’m currently attempting to get a hold of him. It’s worth reading!

  3. Hey it works again. I’ve also re-tagged it. Cool article. I’m thinking it of good top ten: ten people who have done cooler things than me. James could be in that list.

  4. i like U2 ” sunday bloody sunday ”
